Valencia: Last chance for Marcelino ( Recent Form: W D W L L )

These are bitter times for Valencia. After the club from the orange city last season with a fourth place to crown Best of the Rest, it comes this season no further than a meager twelfth place in La Liga. After the shameful 2-1 defeat of last weekend at Alaves and the midweek 2-1 cup low at second division Sporting Gijon, the position of coach Marcelino hangs on a thread. If there is no win again on Saturday afternoon, the coach can almost certainly pick up his bags. The days of Marcelino seem so counted, although the coach himself remains combative: "I will never throw the towel in the ring." Frankly, Marcelino can not be blamed. Valencia basically creates sufficient chances, but the attackers are all hopelessly out of shape. On the basis of Expected Goals, Los Che had to make more than 28 goals, but instead Los Che together with Leganes and upcoming opponent Real Valladolid with only sixteen hits are the least scoring team of the highest Spanish division. On the basis of Expected Points, Valencia is in third place at home, so if attackers like Rodrigo Moreno, Santi Mina, Kevin Gameiro and Michy Batshuayi had just finished their chances, things would have been very different. However, if it does not count in football.

Real Valladolid: Moderate start of 2019 ( Recent Form: W L D L L )

With 21 points from eighteen rounds and a provisional fifteenth place, Real Valladolid is still doing fine, although the team started with a false start to the new year. In her first league match of 2019, home against Rayo Vallecano, goalkeeper Jordi Masip could start fishing after just 38 seconds. That early goal in the end turned out to be the only goal of the year, as a result of which the mules had to start with a defeat in the new year. The midweek cup match at Getafe also resulted in a 1-0 loss, so 2019 is not yet the year of trainer Sergio Gonzalez and his men. Real Valladolid, like Valencia, scores very difficult, but can rely on a reliable rear-guard. El Pucela only lost twice this season with more than one goal difference. The whole team performs its defensive tasks, but does so in a remarkably sporty manner. With only 34 yellow cards and no red card, the team belongs to one of the most sporty teams of La Liga.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

After all, Valencia is still a favorite in the eyes of the bookmakers, but I do not dare to burn my hands to the home club. I prefer to bet under 2.5 goals. Both Valencia and Real Valladolid can defend well, but scoring, as said, is a lot harder. Only two of the nine home games of Valencia and two of the nine away games of Real Valladolid saw more than two goals.
