----------------------------------------

Tunisia: Haven't lost in 90 minutes yet ( Recent Form: D D D W D )

Fetching a place in the final was a hurdle too far for Tunisia by coach Alain Giresse. After a moderate group stage, The Eagles of Carthage were too strong for Ghana in the knockout phase after penalties, and then Madagascar was eliminated in the quarterfinals. In the end, Senegal turned out to be too strong for Tunisia in the semi-final, although The Eagles of Carthage did battle against the Senegalese. An unfortunate own goal by Dylan Bronn in the extension eventually ensured that Tunisia was defeated, but the criticism afterwards focused mainly on Ferjani Sassi and goalkeeper Mouez Hassen. 27-year-old Sassi missed a penalty on behalf of Tunisia in the 75th minute, while a blunder by Hassen, who did return a penalty during regular play, caused the Bronn to pass his own goalkeeper. Tunisia does not have much time to think about the semi-final against Senegal. The consolation final is already waiting on Wednesday evening. The North African country won the Africa Cup in 1962. 57 years later, the Eagles of Carthage is waiting for another race for third place. National coach Giresse will in any case not look back on this edition of the Africa Cup with dissatisfaction, because given the field of participants they can look back on a great tournament in Tunisia - regardless of the result of Wednesday evening.

Nigeria: King of the bronze ( Recent Form: W L W W L )

A lot of bronze medals are undoubtedly in circulation on the Nigerian variant of Marktplaats. The country from West Africa will play a consolation final for the eighth time in the history of the Africa Cup on Wednesday evening. The balance of The Super Eagles is impressive: all seven previous games for third place were won. No African country was third in the Africa Cup more often. In Nigeria they know what is expected of them in the consolation final against Tunisia, although the last bronze is already from nine years ago. Strikingly enough, Nigeria was not present during the last two editions of the Africa Cup. In 2013 the Nigerians still won the African country tournament, but six years later The Super Eagles have to settle for third place at the most. After Nigeria sent home Cameroon (3-2) and South Africa (2-1) in recent weeks, The Super Eagles were defeated by Algeria in the semi-final: 2-1. Against South Africa, William Troost-Ekong, born in Haarlem, was still the hero after a goal in the final phase. Last Sunday evening against Algeria, the Udinese defender scored his own goal in the first half and saw how Riyad Mahrez shot the Algerians to a 2-1 victory just in time.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

After all, Tunisia was unable to overcome the shortcomings from the beginning of the tournament to advance to the final. Nigeria is more appreciated and worthy of 3rd place.
