Stabaek are without the injured duo Matthew Rusike and Jeppe Moe.

Rosenborg’s Anders Trondsen is again expected to miss this league match through a thigh injury. Anders Konradsen is out with a similar problem. Samuel Adegbenro is out with a foot problem.

Stabaek drew 1-1 at home to Lillestrom in a frustrating league game on the opening weekend of the season, and that was followed by further disappointment when they travelled north to play Molde. They lost 3-0 as the hosts ran riot at the Aker Stadium. Rather unsurprisingly, Stabaek struggled, averaging only three shots on target compared to 13 from the home side. Henning Berg’s men didn’t fare any better in possession, picking up just a 36% share of the ball. Norwegian youngsters Ola Brynhildsen and Emil Bohinen are likely to be key figures for Stabaek this season, but the club really need them to start up on their rather subdued performances so far.

Rosenborg could only draw 1-1 in their home league match with Odd BK at Lerkendahl Stadium last time out. Pal Helland scored a rocket of a goal from distance to give the hosts the lead in the first half, but the visitors equalised midway through the second half, courtesy of a Torgeir Borven strike. It was a lacklustre performance from the champions, who in a lot of instances didn’t look like the home side. Odd BK were comfortable on the ball and moved it about calmly. Rosenborg now have just one point from a possible six after losing the opener 2-0 away at Bodo Glimt. That will not be the start Eirik Horneland had planned ahead of the campaign.

After a slow start in game week one, Rosenborg’s frustrations continued when they drew at home with Odd BK. That certainly adds an added importance to secure a win over Stabaek in this league match. I will predict an away win.

Rosenborg won narrowly 1-0 away in this league fixture last season while all of their last five league meetings have been low-scoring affairs. It seems likely that we will witness another low-scoring outcome here.

There have been three draws in the last four league meetings between Stabaek and Rosenborg, with the latter winning once during that time.
