S-Pulse miss Hideki Ishige for the season and Renato Augusto at the moment, while Yugo Tatsuta is at the Copa America with a very experimental Japan squad.

For F.Marinos Kota Yamada will be back from Japan Under-20 duty while Ryo Takano is out for the season. Koji Miyoshi is at the Copa America with a very experimental Japan squad. Takahiro Ogihara was added to the injury list with a knee injury.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/Unavailable: Hideki Ishige (knee surgery), Renato Augusto (hamstring), Yugo Tatsuta (Japan national team).

S-Pulse earned an away draw at Matsumoto Yamaga before the international break in J1, with Douglas scoring their goal in the 1-1 result. A new manager has, perhaps brought fresh impetus to the team – five of their 13 points have come in their last three matches – but they are still bottom of J1 on goal difference. F.Marinos will be a much sterner test! Six goals scored, including a 4-3 home win over Vegalta two games back will help their belief, but their defence was still shoddy.

F.Marinos won 2-1 away at Shonan Bellmare before the international break in J1 with goals coming from Edigar Junio and Teruhito Nakagawa. They continue to look shaky at the back, but goalkeeper Park is an improvement on Hiroki Iikura, but the higher confidence that comes with wins and goals is also dangerous to a team like this that think they can pass it around riskily at the back. Koji Miyoshi is missing and he has been an influential player coming off the bench in recent matches, but they have enough to cover for his absence.

S-Pulse should be able to score against a defence that is 8th-worst in J1. Goals at both ends and eventually a hard-earned win for F.Marinos, I feel.

Whoever takes this game in the end we will see goals. S-Pulse's 14 league games so far have seen 48 total goals – almost 3.5 per game on average. F.Marinos games have seen 41 league goals, a goal short of three per game.

In J1 matches between these two teams last season F.Marinos won away and loss at home.
