MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Chris Wilder’s Sheff Utd are showing no signs of letting up in their pursuit of reaching the English top flight. Despite not being fancied for automatic promotion, the Blades are currently just two points behind second placed Norwich after 26 league games. United had an excellent festive period, winning three in a row after drawing 1-1 with Ipswich, with their latest league victory a 3-0 triumph at Wigan. However, the club did fall to a shocking 1-0 defeat to non-league side Barnet in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend, which means they were eliminated from the competition.

QPR continued their superb run of results with a 2-1 home win over high-flyers Leeds in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend. That narrow victory extended Rangers’ unbeaten run to six games in all competitions with four wins and two draws. Since going four league matches without a win in late November/early December, Steve McClaren’s men have taken 11 points from an available 15 in league action with their latest league match ending in a 2-2 draw away at Aston Villa. QPR are just four points off the top six in ninth.

With both teams in fine fettle, this promises to be an entertaining league game at Bramall Lane. Sheff Utd have been strong at home, winning seven of their 13 league matches on home soil (along with three draws and three losses), and they should edge past QPR at the weekend.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH

Sheff Utd have scored three or more goals in five of their seven home league wins this term. I’m backing this to be another high-scoring affair at Bramall Lane.

HEAD TO HEAD

Sheff Utd have won their last two league meetings against QPR by a 2-1 scoreline.
