MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

After drawing 0-0 at rivals Sheff Wednesday last week, Sheff Utd sealed a 2-0 win against lowly Rotherham at Bramall Lane at the weekend. The Blades are keeping Norwich and Leeds honest at the top of the table, and Chris Wilder’s men look nailed on for at least a playoff spot this season. United are unbeaten since mid-January, having won five and drawn three of their last eight league outings, and will be on the lookout for another three points at home on Tuesday.

Brentford have shown a real improvement under Thomas Frank in recent months. The Bees have lost only twice since mid-December, registering eight wins and three draws in league action during that time. However, the Bees have won just twice on the road in the league all season (seven draws, eight losses), but one of those victories was at the weekend when they saw off Middlesbrough 2-1 on the road.

With Sheff Utd chasing down top spot, the Blades will be going all out for maximum points on home turf. I can see United edging past Brentford at Bramall Lane in this one.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – SHEFF UTD

Sheff Utd have scored the opening goal in all of their league victories at Bramall Lane this season. I’ll be backing the Blades to score first in this one, too.

HEAD TO HEAD

At Griffin Park back in November, Sheff Utd edged a five-goal thriller, claiming a 3-2 league win. Meanwhile, Brentford have not got the better of the Blades since 2013, winning two and drawing two of their last four league encounters.
