MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Two goals in the final five minutes secured a shock away victory for Sheff Wednesday against automatic promotion hopefuls Leeds last weekend. The victory propelled Saturday’s hosts back into the play-off places and put an end to a run of three consecutive league defeats. Garry Monk’s side have now won back-to-back games across league and cup.

Blackburn opened the scoring after just three minutes against Preston last weekend but couldn’t hold onto their lead and ultimately secured just a point against their fellow play-off hopefuls. A run of five league games without a win has left Tony Mowbray’s side five points off the pace in the race for a top six spot ahead of their trip to Hillsborough.

Sheff Wednesday were deserved winners against stronger opposition last weekend and will likely win again here.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – SHEFF WEDNESDAY

Blackburn may have scored inside the opening three minutes last weekend, but the visitors will struggle to breach a Sheff Wednesday defence that has kept back-to-back clean sheets in league and cup against strong opposition. Garry Monk’s men have opened the scoring on 16 occasions in the league this season so far and I expect them to do so again here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Sheff Wednesday have won four of their last six league games against Blackburn.
