Sao Paulo midfielder Felipe Araruna was substituted off last time out with a foot injury and should be an absentee on Tuesday.

Vitoria's main defender Kanu has received his third booking and will be suspended.

Sao Paulo

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Felipe Araruna (foot)

Injured/unavailable: Morato, Brenner (both calf); Rodrigo Caio (foot), Carneiro (match fitness), Cueva (international duty)

Suspended: Kanu

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Juninho (calf), Junior Todinho (cruciate ligament); Guilherme Costa, Bryan (both thigh)

Sao Paulo pulled off a historic result on Saturday when they defeated Atletico Paranaense away from home for the first time in history. A second-half penalty converted by midfielder Nene secured them a 1-0 win that put an end to this enormous hoodoo and allowed them to keep in touch with the leaders Flamengo, after grabbing just one point from the previous six available.

Vitoria went into their Saturday game away at Corinthians as the clear outsiders, but the hosts have been looking dreadful since manager Fabio Carille's departure and the uneventful match ended goalless. Vitoria will have been pleased with their draw against the reigning champions and are now outside the relegation zone with 12 points from 11 games. However, they have won just one of their last five games, along with two draws and two defeats.

Vitoria have won only a single away match this season while Sao Paulo are still unbeaten at home and have won four out their last six league matches (one draw, one loss). This should be a no-brainer, with Sao Paulo the favourites .

Sao Paulo have scored first in eight of their last nine encounters against Vitoria and have also broken the deadlock in four of their last six league games. They should be able to net the first goal here too.

Sao Paulo have the edge over this week’s opponents. They have won six of the last seven meetings with Vitoria, losing just once in September 2016.
