San Martin Tucuman defensive midfielder Adrian Arregui was given a red card at Estudiantes last time out and is suspended. Centre back Lucas Acevedo returns from his own ban while Ramiro Costa, Facundo Costa and Luciano Pons remain sidelined.

San Lorenzo centre back Marcos Senesi collected his fifth yellow card against Gimnasia LP and is suspended. Gonzalo Castellani has overcome his ankle issues and is available. Coach Jorge Almiron is likely to rotate his players in view of the Copa Libertadores game against Melgar from Peru at home next week.

San Martin Tucuman

Despite having run out of chances to retain their top-flight status, San Martin Tucuman put up a good fight on their visit to Estudiantes in league action in the last round. They earned a 1-1 away draw even though they played with ten men for 40 minutes. El Ciruja have recorded a single win in the last ten league matches, drawing three and losing six, and are sitting in 25th spot of the league table with a meagre 22 points. San Martin Tucuman  have collected only two points from the last 18 available at La Ciudadela Stadium.

Andres Herrera’s first ever goal for San Lorenzo allowed the club to rescue a point in the 94th minute at home against Gimnasia LP last time out as they settled for a 1-1 draw. El Ciclon will be looking forward to the end of the season having earned only 22 points in what has been a very disappointing league campaign. They have won only once in their last 16 league matches, drawing nine and losing six, whilst on away turf, they have managed only nine points in the form of one win, six draws and five defeats in league action. San Lorenzo hosted Brazilian side Palmeiras in a Copa Libertadores group fixture in midweek, winning 1-0.

Two of the worst sides in the league will clash here. Furthermore, San Martin Tucuman will be thinking of next season in the second division already while San Lorenzo are focusing on the Copa Libertadores. I’m going with a draw.

Each side have claimed only a single first-half win in 2019. A draw at the break seems very likely.

This is the first league meeting between the sides in the past decade.
