For Tosu, Akito Fukuta was carried off after less than 20 minutes last weekend and we await details. Should be considered doubtful, along with Fernando Torres – the club is giving no news on him, but he is still not in full training. Hiroto Ishikawa is out long term. Sources inside the club tell me that Torres is now in full training and personally hopes to be available for this match. The team went another game without scoring on Wednesday night, despite playing a strong team, when they lost 1-0 at FC Tokyo in the League Cup.

Frontale still expect to be missing Ryota Oshima and Kazuaki Mawatari. Tatsuki Nara came off the bench to replace Shogo Taniguchi who was injured in the 1st half of Grontale's 1-0 defeat to Ulsan Hyundai in the Asian Champions league on Wednesday night. Taniguchi should be considered doubtful for now.

Tosu failed to score again going down 3-0 away at Vegalta Sendai last weekend. They have scored just one single goal in six games and have failed to impress at all. The missing Fernando Torres does not really affect the scoring, I feel, as he has not had an effect on the field at all in my opinion, but just adds crowds of inquisitive fans to the gate. The fact that his injury is given little publicity and it is is hard to get accurate information is intentional from the team and/or the league and broadcasters DAZN, as they do not want to affect crowds. This is irrelevant to Tosu but to me as an analyst is dishonest. More transparency and less pressure to hide things might help this club in the long run, but there is obviously something wrong deeper inside this club to fail so badly, so often with such a talented pool of players.

Frontale went behind to Cerezo last weekend before coming back for a draw on a goal from Kei Chinen. They sit 10th in the table with a very average showing of six goals scored and five conceded. Yet, on the field they have just one J1 loss and a win and a narrow away loss in the Asian Champions league. They are probably satisfied with their season so far and would probably accept a couple more draws in J1 in the coming games as they have two ACL matches to play in the next two weeks, also. Expect some team rotation and less urgency in 50-50 balls in this match!

Having said that they may prioritize ACL over the next two weeks I feel that Frontale will still have more than enough to take out Tosu. The home team is low on confidence and are not playing as a team. A home game may even hinder them as their impatient fans lose patience with their team. I expect Frontale to take the points.

Having played economically in J1 so far, with four draws and a win at promoted Matsumoto Yamaga to show so far (their single loss was a last-gasp 1-0 home defeat to Gamba Osaka when they appeared to be settling for another draw), I can't see Frontale going all out to score goals. The ACL games will be on their minds and their form so far would suggest that a 1-0 win is more than enough and can be expected. They average a goal-a-game so far, and that will continue.

In J1 matches between these two teams last season Frontale won away and drew at home.
