Rotherham secured a vital three points at home against ninth-placed Nottingham Forest in the last round, registering a 2-1 league win. Although they are still in the bottom three they have been thrown a lifeline with that victory, with only a point separating them from Reading and Millwall above them. It was the Millers’ fourth league win in 2019, having drawn five and lost six times along the way in league action. The majority of their 39 points (29) have come on their own turf, thanks to seven wins, eight draws and five losses.

A seven-match unbeaten streak (six wins, one draw) has catapulted Aston Villa from an uninspiring 15th place into fifth, with the side now in with a real chance of making the playoffs. The Villans travelled to Sheff Wednesday last time out, registering their sixth league win on the bounce via a 3-1 scoreline against former boss Steve Bruce. Dean Smith’s men have been in impressive form up front having scored three or more goals in four of those six league successes.

Rotherham are finding themselves in desperate need of points, but Aston Villa clearly have the momentum and firepower. The visitors should be able to dispatch the Millers easily.

Aston Villa have beaten Rotherham 2-0 in their last two league meetings. I’m going for a repeat of that scoreline.

These sides have met only three times in league action recently, with Aston Villa victorious on all occasions. They have not conceded a single goal during that run.
