Rosenborg’s Anders Trondsen is again expected to miss this league match through injury. Anders Konradsen is also set to be sidelined with a thigh problem. Meanwhile, the Norwegian international Birger Meling is struggling with a niggling thigh problem.

Odd BK are without Andreas Helmersen who has a serious knee injury while Markus Andreas Kaasa is marked as a doubt with a minor knee problem.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Birger Meling (thigh)

Injured/unavailable: Anders Trondsen, Anders Konradsen (both thigh)

Odd BK

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Markus Andreas Kaasa (knee)

Injured/unavailable: Andreas Helmersen (knee)

Rosenborg suffered a shock 2-0 defeat away at Bodo Glimt in their first league game of the season. A strike in each half for the hosts were more than enough for Bodo Glimt’s win. Rosenborg’s new manager, Eirik Horneland, received much criticism for his choice of formation in his first league game in charge, opting for a pretty basic 4-4-2/4-3-3 setup. It was a decision that left the champions exposed to the home side’s counter-attacks. The Trondheim club are better than the bare result of their round one game, and there are big performances in Nicklas Bendtner for instance. Dating back to last season, the champions have an impressive nine-match undefeated streak at Lerkendal with six wins and three draws, and that will give them plenty of confidence when it comes to picking up a win against this weekend’s visitors.

Odd BK booked an unexpected 3-2 win at home against Brann in their league opener. A double from the visitors’ dominant captain, Vito Wormgoor, wasn’t enough for the away side, as Vebjorn Hoff (one goal) and Torgeir Borven (two) ensured the hosts outscored the Bergen club for all three points. The result will certainly give the Grenland club hope as they head north to tackle the champions in Trondheim, a league game they lost 3-1 away in November. However, in Odd BK’s final three away league matches last season, they were in losing positions at both half time and full time. Lerkendal is a difficult place to put an end to that sequence.

Despite Odd BK’s win last weekend and Rosenborg’s loss on the opening weekend of the season, I can see only a home win in this league match. The hosts lost just once at home in the league in 2018 (nine wins, five draws) and therefore I will go with an easy home victory.

The last three league meetings at Rosenborg between these side have seen at least three total goals. I think it is likely there will be a similar goal count in this one.

Rosenborg and Odd BK met twice in league action last year, with the Trondheim club winning at home 3-1 and sharing the points in a 1-1 draw in Grenland.
