MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Real Salt Lake were blanked 1-0 in the league away against the San Jose Earthquakes last weekend on a last-minute goal after winning their two previous league games by clean sheets. They allowed the winner to the San Jose Earthquakes in the third minute of injury time to spoil goaltender Nick Rimando's 500th career contest. It was also Real Salt Lake's first defeat in four league matches (two wins, one draw) after suffering through a three-game winless streak of two losses and a draw.

The Philadelphia Union took four of six points against Orlando City in the league last week with a 3-1 away win in midweek and a 2-2 home draw on the weekend. The Union's Marco Fabian scored after just four minutes in the home league draw only to see Orlando strike back in the 67th and 81st minutes. However, Kacper Przybylko scored for the fifth time in the last four league games as he netted the equalizer in the 90th minute. The Union still leads the East with 36 out of a possible 63 league points, but they have won just three of their last nine league outings with four draws and two defeats.

With the Philadelphia Union being a good away side and six of the 11 league meetings between the sides being draws I can see both teams taking a point from this match.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD – HOME WIN

The Philadelphia Union is known as a strong second-half team since they have led at half time just seven times in their 21 league games and still lead the East. Real Salt Lake has trailed only six times in 19 league games and I expect them to lead after 45 minutes.

HEAD TO HEAD

The Philadelphia Union won last year's league meeting 4-1 at home. However, Real Salt Lake won their last home league encounter 1-0.
