Defensive pair Matthew Spiranovic and Tomislav Mrcela missed Perth Glory’s win at Brisbane Roar last time out but should return to face the Sky Blues.

Sydney FC regain Daniel De Silva after he was unavailable for their 5-2 win over the Central Coast Mariners due to their loan agreement. New signing Anthony Caceres is in contention.

Perth Glory claimed a come-from-behind 4-2 win at Brisbane Roar in the last round to maintain their grip on top spot, three points clear of Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC. Glory have been good at home this season, with three wins, one draw and one loss, although that defeat came at the hands of Sydney FC, 2-1 last month.

Indeed, Sydney FC sit third on the table and have won their past four league matches to re-discover their form. The Sky Blues have a dominant record against Perth with their last defeat dating back to February 2016, which will play a part, although this is a very different Glory outfit this season.

I think last month’s result is instructive but Perth are made of stern stuff this season, so I’m plumping for a draw.

Sydney FC have scored first in the past six league meetings between these clubs but I think Tony Popovic’s Perth Glory will be determined to turn around their run of results against the Sky Blues and scoring first will be key. Glory have in fact opened the scoring in eight of their 11 league fixtures so far this term while Sydney have achieved this feat only five times, and I’m tipping the hosts, who are equal top scorers in the league, to be the first team on the scoresheet.

Sydney FC have won their past nine league clashes with Perth Glory.
