Neil Kilkenny is Perth Glory’s only worry having suffered an ankle injury in training while Alex Grant has recovered from the illness which kept him out of their round 27 league fixture.

Adelaide Utd have a quick turnaround after last weekend’s extra-time win over Melbourne City in the elimination final, but they don’t appear to have any new issues at selection.

Injured/unavailable: Ryan Strain (hamstring)

Premiers Perth Glory enjoyed last weekend off while Adelaide Utd battled for 120 minutes to get past Melbourne City 1-0 in extra time in their elimination final, after a 0-0 draw in regular time. Glory, naturally, will be the fresher side.

On paper, Glory finished the regular season 16 points ahead of the Red and deservedly take favouritism into this semi-final clash, having not conceded once against Adelaide in three league meetings this season.

Perth lost 1-0 at Sydney FC in Round 26 but crushed Wellington Phoenix 5-0 in their last tune-up in the league prior to the finals a fortnight ago. Adelaide are actually unbeaten in their past six league and playoff matches, winning four and drawing two in regular time, and take form into the finals.

Despite that, Perth have a dominance against Adelaide this season and the benefit of a weekend off, so I’m expecting the hosts to be too good.

As previously alluded to, in their three league meetings this season Perth Glory are unbeaten, with two 2-0 wins in Adelaide and a goalless draw in Perth. Adelaide Utd haven’t been a high-scoring team this season, netting only 37 goals overall during the regular campaign, so with that history, I’m predicting a low-scoring semi-final encounter.

Perth Glory may be unbeaten in their last three league meetings (two wins, one draw), but the teams have identical records when it comes to their last five league encounters, with two wins each and one draw.
