MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

 

After two wins in a row, 19th placed Parana couldn’t make a stand against leaders Flamengo and ended up losing 2-0 away on Sunday. There is not much they could do against a superior team who had won all of their previous four matches and who have been playing the most efficient football in the country so far, but Parana can get back to scoring ways at home against Cruzeiro.

Cruzeiro visited 14th placed Chapecoense at the weekend, losing 2-0. They resisted until the 80th minute but couldn’t hang on to the draw as their defence produced a disappointing performance. The team have now slid into eighth place after securing very positive previous results that took them to the top four.

Cruzeiro have failed to win four of their six away games this season (two wins, one draw, three losses) while Parana have won their last two home fixtures. However, those two victories arrived against Bahia and Fluminense, who are weaker sides than Cruzeiro. I think a draw should fit the occasion pretty well.
