Two poor sides to settle for a point

TEAM NEWS
Newell’s Old Boys will oversee the debut of new coach Omar De Felippe after Juan Manuel Llop’s departure three weeks ago. Braian Rivero has served his one-week suspension. However, Luciano Pocrnjic and Bruno Bianchi have both succumbed to muscle issues and will miss out.
San Martin SJ boss Nestor Gorosito will find it tricky to pick a left back on Monday. Luis Olivera continues to recover from a muscle injury and Jonathan Goitia, who replaced him last time out, is suspended after his sending-off. Meanwhile, Camilo Candido, who could also have taken that place, remains sidelined. In other news, midfielder Alvaro Fernandez collected his fifth yellow card limit last round against Independiente and is suspended while Matias Escudero returns from his own ban.

MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: HAD - San Martin SJ (+1) AWAY WIN

Newell’s Old Boys have claimed only a single point in their last five league matches. They suffered their fourth defeat during that time last Sunday as they succumbed to a 1-0 loss away to Banfield under interim boss Fabian Garfagnoli. The team have failed to score for the fourth consecutive game and returned home empty-handed as the hosts found the winner in the first half. Having collected only 14 points this season, Newell’s should be highly worried about next season’s relegation table. At home, La Lepra have claimed only a single victory in their last five games.
San Martin SJ are on six games without a win following their 4-0 thrashing by Independiente at home last time out. Nestor Gorosito’s men couldn’t control the visitors’ strong attack and suffered a heavy blow, which ended a four-game unbeaten run at their own stadium. San Martin are yet to secure their top-flight status even though it appears they are not far off. However, El Verdinegro have lost their last four away matches.
Both teams have been performing badly and this game should end in a draw.  To play it safe, San Martin SJ on the +1 market seems a wise choice here.

SECOND PREDICTION: HALF TIME HAD – DRAW

Newell’s Old Boys haven’t scored before the break in their last seven matches while San Martin SJ haven’t won at half time in their last six. Expect a draw at the break.

HEAD TO HEAD
Newell’s Old Boys have won six of their 11 encounters with San Martin SJ, suffering three defeats. Newell’s are unbeaten in Rosario, having claimed five victories and a draw.
