MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

The New York Red Bulls were involved in yet another close-scoring league match last weekend, but managed to take all three points with a 3-2 home win over the LA Galaxy. The Red Bulls took the lead after 15 minutes through Amro Tarek, but LA were ahead 2-1 by half time. Marc Rzatkowski tied the game in the 59th minute and Derrick Etienne scored the winner just eight minutes later. It was the second straight league win for the Red Bulls after a winless streak of four losses and a draw. New York now has 11 points this year from three wins, two draws and four losses. They have scored 12 times in nine league matches and allowed just 11. The Red Bulls remain at home where they have three wins and two losses and have outscored their visitors 9-6.

The Montreal Impact lost for the first time at home in the league this year and also conceded for the first time on their own soil as they were shut out 2-0 by New York City last weekend. It was also the first time Montreal allowed a goal after posting two straight clean sheets in league action . The visitors scored in the sixth and 49th minutes while Montreal couldn't solve the New York defence. The Impact remain at 17 points in the Eastern Conference from five wins, two draws and four defeats and have been outscored 16-12. Their away record stands at three wins, two draws and three losses for a league high 11 points out of 28 on the road.

The Montreal Impact may be the strongest away side in the American top flight, but the New York Red Bulls have won their last two home league matches straight and I think they will grab a third one here.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – MONTREAL IMPACT

The Montreal Impact has opened the scoring five times in their 11 league games this season, including three times on the road. I'm expecting them to strike first again.

HEAD TO HEAD

The Montreal Impact won 3-0 at home in the league last year while the New York Red Bulls won 3-1 at home. The Red Bulls have won their last two home league encounters.
