MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

The New York Red Bulls were downed 3-1 away at Toronto FC in the league in midweek and were then rather fortunate to leave Orlando City with a 1-0 league win. Brian White scored the lone goal of the league game in the 32nd minute in Florida and the team then survived an Orlando onslaught in the second half. The win gives the Red Bulls 34 points and moved them ahead of their crosstown rivals New York City and into fourth place in the East. They have three wins, three losses and a draw in their last seven league games.

The Columbus Crew finally enjoyed a productive week as they drew 2-2 on the road against the Chicago Fire in the league in midweek and then edged the Montreal Impact 2-1 at home on the weekend. Josh Williams and David Accam scored for Columbus in the sixth and 46th minutes while Montreal's goal was sandwiched in between just before the half-time whistle. The Crew is now unbeaten in their past two league games with the draw and win after losing their previous five league matches in a row. Columbus sits in 11th place in the 12-team Eastern Conference and will really need to pick up the pace if they hope to make the postseason.

The Columbus Crew has been outscored 17-7 in ten away games in the league and with 80% of those games being losses I expect the New York Red Bulls to take three points.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – NEW YORK RED BULLS

The Columbus Crew has scored first in just one away league game this season and this doesn't bode well for them to strike first against the New York Red Bulls. Look for the hosts to open the scoring.

HEAD TO HEAD

The teams met in March in the league and drew 1-1 in Columbus.
