NEC Nijmegen have overall had a disappointing season, but their form has picked up since mid-January. They went into last week’s league match at home against Roda on the back of a seven-match undefeated streak, but only two of those league contests had been wins, along with five draws. However, NEC Nijmegen were the first team to hit the back of the net against their opponents last time out, with Jordy Bruijn scoring his second goal of the campaign in the seventh minute. The side’s recent run has seen them climb from 15th into 11th place, and they are trailing sixth-placed Roda by only four points.

Den Bosch finally managed to book a league win as they beat lowly Helmond 3-0 at home in the last round. Despite sitting in the top four, they had been winless for six league games (three draws, three losses), but they had no trouble seeing off their struggling opponents. After hitting the bar twice, the first 15 minutes of the second half proved decisive for the ‘s-Hertogenbosch based club. An own goal in the 50th minute, Danny Verbeek’s free kick in the 51st minute and Vincent Vermeij’s first goal of the season in the 58th minute saw them clinch an easy victory. Den Bosch are in fourth place on goal difference and are level on points with Sparta Rotterdam in third, while they are one point behind second-placed Go Ahead Eagles.

When it comes to recent form, NEC Nijmegen are without a doubt on a better run in league action. They have also won their last three home league matches, scoring 10 goals in the process. Den Bosch will be relieved to have grabbed a league win at last, but they hardly faced difficult opponents last week. They don’t convince me and I’m going for a home win.

Den Bosch’s last two league defeats have ended in a 2-1 scoreline while they have conceded exactly two goals in each of their last three league losses. NEC Nijmegen, meanwhile, have shipped exactly one goal in 50% of their last eight league games. A 2-1 victory for the home side seems likely.

The last three league meetings have been won by the respective home side, with Den Bosch registering two wins and NEC Nijmegen one.
