MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

A 1-0 lead in the 401 derby wasn't enough for the Montreal Impact last weekend as they fell 2-1 in Toronto. Bojan Krkic launched Montreal into the lead after 49 minutes but the home side clawed back with goals in the 63rd and 81st minutes to snatch the points. It was a huge loss in the Eastern playoff race as the teams went into the game level on 34 points and sharing the seventh and final postseason position with Toronto having a game in hand. Montreal slips to ninth place.

The Vancouver Whitecaps were downed 3-1 in San Jose last weekend. They jumped in front after six minutes when Jakob Nerwinski scored his first-ever league goal. The lead lasted just 60 seconds though with San Jose also adding markers in the 34th and 73rd minutes. Things would have been much worse for Vancouver if goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau didn't set a new league record with 16 saves in the contest. Vancouver has just two wins in the past 13 league games with seven defeats and four draws. They have 27 points, are tied for last place in the West with Colorado and are 13 points behind the final playoff spot.

Montreal has lost seven of their last nine league outings with a win and draw but being at home and desperate they should be able to beat Vancouver.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH

75% of Montreal's league games have ended in three or more goals and Vancouver has allowed 48 goals against, the fourth-most in the league. I expect a high-scoring contest.

HEAD TO HEAD

Vancouver won last year's league meeting 2-1 at home. They have met seven times in the league with Vancouver winning four, losing two and drawing one.
