MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

The Montreal Impact lost their fourth straight league contest as they were doubled 2-1 away from home against the Columbus Crew last weekend. They fell behind after just six minutes only to pull level through Zakaria Diallo just before half time. However, they allowed the winner in the first minute of the second half and then blew their chance of a comeback when Bakari Sagna was sent off with a red card in the 55th minute. Montreal stays at 30 points in the league with nine wins, three draws and 11 defeats. If the Impact doesn't snap their losing streak soon their chances of making the Eastern playoffs will eventually disappear.

The Philadelphia Union bounced back from a 4-0 beating in Salt Lake City in the league a week earlier with a 2-0 shutout over the Chicago Fire at home on the weekend. Marco Fabian scored the winner in the 11th minute while Anthony Fontana added some insurance in the 65th minute and goalkeeper Andre Blake registered the clean sheet. The three points gives the Union 39 on the season in 23 league games and allows them to hold onto first place in the East with DC United and Atlanta Utd trying to close the gap.

The Montreal Impact has lost four league matches in a row and has scored an average of just one goal at home in the league. The Philadelphia Union beat them 3-0 earlier this season and I like their chances of doing so again.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – PHILADELPHIA UNION

The Montreal Impact has conceded the first goal in 12 of their 23 league games and I like the odds of the Philadelphia Union opening the scoring because of this.

HEAD TO HEAD

The Philadelphia Union won 3-0 at home in the league in April, but they have just two wins in the last nine league meetings with four losses and three draws.
