Montedio took a point from fellow promotion-challengers Ventforet Kofu last weekend in J2, with a 2-2 away draw. Both of their goals came from Toyofumi Sakano. The top two in J2 face off in this big match and a win will feel like a real six-pointer to whoever wins. Of the two Montedio are in a better run of form with seven league games of unbeaten but they have three draws in their last four league games and just four goals in that time. They are struggling to score enough to win matches, although their defence is second best in J2 only to their visitors today.

HollyHock stormed back to the top of J2 on goal difference with a 4-2 win at home to Avispa Fukuoka... two of their goals came from Yuya Asano. HollyHock may have the best defence in the division but their attack is 12th-best in J2!  Both teams today have excellent defences, while their attacks are not the best.

With two mean defences and perhaps both teams preferring not to lose as opposed to really looking for the win, we should expect a low scoring draw here.

With both of these teams defending so well, it may be a scoreless 1st half. Montedio have 6 of their 21 season goals before the break, while HollyHock have scored just six of their 19 before half time.

In J2 matches between these two teams last season HollyHock won both games.
