Molde certainly didn’t let down their fans’ expectations as they strode to a 3-0 home league win over Henning Berg’s Stabaek at the weekend. Former Manchester Utd youngster Magnus Eikrem got the opener before Ohi Omoijuanfo scored against his former club to make it 2-0. Mattias Mostrom rounded things off with a third goal nine minutes from time. After Erling Haland’s departure last season, Omoijuanfo could prove vital to their chances of securing another league win in their second home league match of the season. Having collected four points from a possible six so far, Molde will be confident ahead of the visit from Valerenga, especially since they have such a good record against the Oslo club at the Aker Stadium.

Valerenga slipped to a rather disappointing 2-0 away defeat at Kristiansund in their round two league match. Bendik Bye and Kristoffer Hoven scored a goal in each half to secure all three points for the hosts. To make matters worse, the visitors also had Efrain Juarez sent off for a second bookable offence, which undoubtedly didn’t help their chances. After just two league matches played, the same old inconsistencies are already showing for Valerenga, with their dismal performance last time out following a fine 2-0 opening win over newly-promoted Mjondalen. A trip to Molde will not have been on their wanted list.

Having won their last three home league encounters, Molde’s recent strong record at home against Valerenga is more than enough for me to predict another big home win here.

Molde have scored a total of nine goals against Valerenga in their previous two league meetings at the Aker Stadium. In addition, they scored more than any other side at home last season. A high-scoring home league win looks likely again.

In the last two league meetings in Molde between these clubs, there have been two wide-margin victories for the hosts – 5-1 (2018) and 4-0 (2017).
