Mjondalen are without Sosha Makani, Georges Bokwe and Henrik Gulden ahead of this league game.

Lillestrom’s Simen Kind Mikalsen is a doubt because of injury, while Erik Sandberg definitely misses this league match with a more serious knee problem. Tobias Salquist is suspended.

Mjondalen lost to a single strike when they played league leaders Molde at the Aker Stadium in their most recent league outing. However, despite the end result they showed their resolute defensive character. There have been under 2.5 total goals scored in Mjondalen’s last four league matches, with the team conceding only three goals during that time. The club have eight different scorers this season, but it is Sondre Johansen and Tonny Brochmann who lead the charts with two goals apiece. In league games played at home in 2019, Mjondalen have lost one, drawn one and won one. After one win in four league games (two draws, one loss), they will see this home league match with Lillestrom as an ideal opportunity to pick up a victory.

Lillestrom finished level at 1-1 with Rosenborg at home in their last league game. It was a match in which they could have snatched the win had they been more decisive on the counter-attack. Instead, Daniel Gustavsson scored the hosts’ only goal in the first half. Rosenborg captain Mike Jensen equalised for the champions with an opportunistic finish from inside the penalty area. Lillestrom have failed to win any of their three away league games so far this season (one draw, two losses). In addition, they have only scored one time in that three-game away winless run this year.

Mjondalen have scored in five of their seven league outings this season and there is no reason why they can’t keep that going against these opponents. Conversely, Lillestrom have struggled in front of goal, scoring just five overall and just two in their last five league outings.  I think the hosts can outscore the visitors in this one, so I will predict a home win.

Lillestrom’s last two league defeats have resulted in even total goals, as have three of their last four league matches, and two of Mjondalen’s last four. I predict a repeat of that here.

The teams last met in league action in 2015, with Lillestrom winning on both occasions.
