MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Minnesota Utd pulled off a 1-1 away league draw with Real Salt Lake last weekend and are now unbeaten in their past five league clashes with four wins and a draw. Carlos Quintero headed in a corner kick in the 57th minute to give Minnesota the lead but they couldn't hold it as Real Salt Lake tied the match in the 70th minute. Minnesota has accumulated 34 points out of a possible 63 in 21 league games and currently sit in fourth place in the West with ten wins, four draws and seven defeats, but they are just four points ahead of the eighth-place Houston Dynamo.

The Vancouver Whitecaps remain with a league-low four wins after coming out on the wrong end of a 3-1 decision to the San Jose Earthquakes at home in the league last weekend. Their midweek league match three nights earlier wasn't any better as they were trounced 4-0 away by the New England Revolution. The Whitecaps took the lead through Doneil Henry after seven minutes against San Jose but then gave up three straight goals. They have lost five consecutive league games and are without a win in the past eight at five defeats and three draws. Vancouver owns the basement of the West at 20 points and the playoffs aren't a realistic possibility.

Minnesota Utd's riding a five-match unbeaten streak in the league while the Vancouver Whitecaps are winless in eight. I like the chances of a home win.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH

The sides combined for 11 total goals in the last two league meetings for an average of 5.5. Also, the Vancouver Whitecaps have conceded 16 times in the past four league games. I believe the sides will combine for at least three total goals.

HEAD TO HEAD

The teams met in Vancouver in league action in March with Minnesota Utd winning 3-2. They have played each other five times in the league with each team winning twice and drawing once.
