Middlesbrough: Believes in a miracle ( Recent Form: L W W W W )

Middlesbrough played in the Premier League three seasons ago. Boro is now active in the Championship for the third consecutive season. Two seasons ago, Middlesbrough finished fifth in the Championship and last season Boro just missed out on the Play-Offs for promotion. This season, on the other hand, Middlesbrough is less successful in the Championship: Middlesbrough is currently in a disappointing sixteenth place on the second level of England. The last few weeks, however, the Jonathan Woodgate team has achieved excellent results. Middlesbrough won the last four games it played and therefore made a jump on the rankings. On New Year's Day, Boro was 0-2 too strong for Preston North End. Rudy Gestede and Ashley Fletchter made Deepdale the first two goals from Middlesbrough in this calendar year. By the way, with Anfernee Dijksteel there is a Dutch person under contract with Boro. The 22-year-old right back is not doing so badly at Middlesbrough, but misses the duel with Tottenham due to an injury. Daniel Ayala got injured against Preston North End at Middlesbrough and is a doubt for Sunday. Probably no risk is taken with the Spanish defender.

Tottenham Hotspur: Four straight games with poor form ( Recent Form: W L W D L )

Tottenham Hotspur does not perform much better under José Mourinho than under his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian coach was fired by Tottenham in November because of poor results, but things are not going much better under Mourinho. Moreover, Tottenham has also started to play much more boringly under the Portuguese, but that was of course coming. The Spurs are currently in sixth place in the Premier League and are already six points behind Chelsea, which is in coveted fourth place. There is certainly still enough work to be done for Mourinho. The Portuguese will have to do it again in the coming weeks without star player Harry Kane. The 26-year-old striker suffered a hamstring injury on New Year's Day in the 1-0 loss against Southampton. Tottenham himself does not want to make any statements about how long Kane has been out of circulation, but according to English media we have to take four to six weeks into account. Tottenham will have to do without the absolute star holder in the coming period. Good news for Mourinho is that Heung-Min Son, who was in the stands in the last few games because of a suspension, is available again at Tottenham and the South Korean is also expected in the base against Middlesbrough.

After all, both teams have a fairly open attacking style and are ready to push the line-up whenever they get the chance. In particular, Tottenham currently has a very high scoring performance with the sublimation of the pillars. Against a lower class opponent, this will be an opportunity for them to have a strong victory to relieve the pressure after a unfortunate draw against Norwich in the last round.
