MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough have spent the majority of their league campaign in the top six. Away from home, Middlesbrough have one of the best records in the English second division, with only two other sides accumulating more points. However, they would be near the top if their home form was better as Boro have picked up just seven league victories at the Riverside Stadium this season (six draws, four losses). They are coming off a 2-1 loss at home against Brentford.

Preston are without doubt the league’s in-form team at the moment. Since losing 2-1 to Rotherham at the New York Stadium at the beginning of the year, Alex Neil’s men are unbeaten in ten league fixtures, winning six and drawing four. They beat Blackburn 1-0 away at the weekend, but with so many clubs pushing for the top six, finishing in the playoffs seems unlikely for North End.

When these two met at Deepdale back in November, they played out an intriguing 1-1 draw. I can see a similar outcome here.

SECOND PREDICTION: CORRECT SCORE - 1-1

Incredibly, Preston have already drawn 1-1 on seven occasions in this season’s league campaign. I fancy two goals to be evenly shared in the North East of England in midweek.

HEAD TO HEAD

Middlesbrough have won two and drawn three of their last five league outings against Preston.
