MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

A late Harold Moukoudi own goal sent Middlesbrough back to Teesside with just a point against a Wigan side who are enjoying a strong run of form under Paul Cook. Jonathan Woodgate’s men are currently without a win in six league games. The hosts will be hoping to improve a run of three consecutive home league draws when they welcome Luton this weekend.

Luton made a huge statement in the battle for survival when they kept a clean sheet and picked up the three points against a Sheff Wednesday side who are watching their play-off hopes slip away. The result has lifted Graeme Jones’ men off the bottom of the table and within seven points’ range of Stoke City in 21st place.

Luton may have won in midweek, but they’ve lost 11 consecutive away league games and could be beaten again here.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – MIDDLESBROUGH

Middlesbrough may be the Championship’s second lowest scoring team, but they scored twice against Wigan in midweek and should open the scoring here against a Luton side who have conceded two or more total goals in each of their last 11 away Championship matches.

HEAD TO HEAD

The sides played out a 3-3 draw when they met on the opening day of this season.
