Melbourne Victory regain the services of skipper Carl Valeri but lose the suspended Rhys Williams after his early red card in the 2-1 loss to Wellington Phoenix.
Perth Glory unexpectedly regained Scott Neville and Xavi Torres early in last round’s 2-0 home loss to Melbourne City. They will be without Jacob Poscoliero following a mystery virus which forced him to hospital in midweek. Shane Lowry and Mitch Nichols are available in a boost.
Melbourne Victory

Melbourne Victory’s four-game unbeaten run came to an unexpected end with a 2-1 loss away to Wellington Phoenix in midweek. Meanwhile, Perth Glory’s recent form is awful, having lost their past three matches without scoring a goal and conceding 11.
The hosts have only won one game on home turf in their seven outings, but Glory’s away form is poor, with seven points from eight trips. Despite Victory’s poor home form, it is hard to make a case for Glory, particularly given the hosts seldom lose two in a row. I’m backing Victory.
Perth Glory’s lack of goals in their past three matches is alarming. They have also conceded the most in the A-League, so it is a safe bet to assume Melbourne Victory will score first.
Overall, Melbourne Victory narrowly lead the ledger with 17 wins to Perth Glory’s 16, while there have been 11 draws. Victory have won their past two encounters, although prior to that Glory had been unbeaten in five meetings.
Prediction: Melbourne Victory to win
