Yamaga suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Cerezo Osaka last weekend in J1 play. After three league matches unbeaten against teams around them in the bottom half of the table – useful points stored for later in the season – Yamaga have been beaten 2-0 twice in their last league matches and look vulnerable against confident teams who attack. Their visitors today are just that – a team that moves the ball fast and takes their chances. The problem has not necessarily been defence – they have conceded 11 goals in the league, but they have scored just six goals (only Sagan Tosu are worse attacking). Yamaga lost 1-0 away at Jubilo Iwata in the League Cup in midweek.

Consadole went a goal down before goals from Ryosuke Shindo and Musashi Suzuki gave the team a 2-1 home win over Vissel Kobe in J1 play last Saturday. Consadole halted a three-game losing streak against the teams who are currently 2nd to 4th in J1 to win four games in-a-row, while scoring eight goals and conceding just two. They have lost top-scorer Anderson Lopes to injury but Musashi Suzuki has been the more consistent striker and I feel that Consadole can cover this with ease. A consistent midfield including Chanathip, Daiki Suga and Lucas Fernandes is keeping the engine going and goals are coming from everywhere – last week defender Ryosuke Shindo scored a spectacular overhead goal – a sign of confidence all over the team. Consadole lost 4-0 to Yokohama F.Marinos in the League Cup in midweek!

Yamaga are struggling to get points and will continue to do so. Basically their low budget does not allow them to attract higher profile players and they are a team of hard-working journeyman punching above their weight. Consadole are a well-coached team playing for each other and on a winning streak – that will continue.

I actually expect a clean sheet for Consadole so this bet is the logical one, but with four goals in the first 10 minutes of league games and nine in the 1st half of games, this adds likelihood of this.

In J1 matches between these two teams last season each team won their home game.
