Malmo have to make do without central defender Lasse Nielsen while full back Behrang Safari and central defender Franz Brorsson are doubts. Markus Rosenberg has returned to action.

Left back Marco Weymans and midfielder Simon Kroon are back in training but they are not yet fit to play for Ostersunds.

Malmo suffered defeat against Sundsvall in the league last week, losing 3-1, and they are still without a win this season having drawn their league opener with Hacken at home (1-1). The title favourites need to start picking up points and this league game should give an indication of where they stand. A positive note for Malmo is that Markus Rosenberg is expected to be fully fit. The 36-year-old striker is still vital for Malmo and his build-up play and target skills has been missing during the first league games of the season. He came on as a substitute against Sundsvall and played 22 minutes. Malmo missed a penalty and scored the 1-1 goal with ten minutes left to play, but they still managed to lose. Their play perhaps merited something out of that league game.

Ostersunds took their first league win of the season against Falkenbergs, beating them 3-2, but they did not impress, as they scored an own goal and gave away a penalty. The team did score three wonder goals with all of them coming from long distance shots, but the defence need to be tighter against Malmo as their opponents will take their chances in a better way than last week’s newly-promoted side. Ostersunds will likely start Alhaji Gero in this league fixture and try to play a more counter-attacking football than last week, with Hosam Aiesh providing speed on the flank and with a 5-3-2 formation to keep the control.

Malmo have the biggest budget of all teams in the league and the best squad. They will be favourites to beat Ostersunds to kick-start their league season. Having Rosenberg back in full match fitness provides the edge for the home team.

Ostersunds kept a clean sheet against AIK Solna two weeks ago and two of their last three encounters (including cup match) against Malmo have seen under 2.5 total goals scored. Another low-scoring affair seems likely.

There has been only one win for Ostersunds in the past five league meetings with Malmo (two draws, two losses).
