Lillestrom’s Arnor Smarason is a doubt with a knee injury. Erik Sandberg definitely misses this league match with a more serious knee problem. Tobias Salquist is suspended.

Rosenborg are without Gjermund Asen and Pal Helland ahead of the trip to Lillestrom. In addition, Babajide Akintola is marked as a doubt.

MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Lillestrom suffered a heavy 4-0 away defeat in their round six league match against Bodo Glimt. The hosts raced into a 3-0 lead by half time, with the visitors in disarray. In the second half Bodo Glimt made it 4-0, but thankfully for Lillestrom the second period wasn’t as bad as the first. The result ensured Jorgen Lennartsson’s men have failed to win in three tries away from home in the league this season (one draw, two losses). However, in league games played at the Arasen Stadium in 2019, they have won two and lost just one, with the defeat arriving against title favourites Molde.

Rosenborg finally got off the mark for the season with a nervous 1-0 home league win over a determined Sarpsborg side last time out. Just over 10,000 home fans braved the cold to watch their team move off the bottom of the table, as faith in new manager Eirik Horneland seems to be waning even at this early stage. Gustav Valsvik assisted club captain Mike Jensen, who struck the ball calmly past the visiting goalkeeper for the league game’s only goal. Despite their disappointing start to the season, Horneland’s men are unbeaten in the league at Lerkendal with one win and two draws. However, away from home, the Trondheim club have lost all three league games, conceding eight times and scoring just once in the process.

I think Rosenborg will be able to use their home win over Sarpsborg as a springboard to better form. Meanwhile, the hosts will have little confidence after their heavy loss at Bodo Glimt last time out. I will predict an away win.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE - ROSENBORG

Rosenborg have scored first in elevn of the last twelve league meetings with Lillestrom and I will expect them to score first in this league match, too.

HEAD TO HEAD

Lillestrom haven’t beaten Rosenborg in the league in the past decade. They lost 3-0 away and drew 0-0 at home last season.
