Krylya Sovetov Samara’s horde of experienced winter reinforcements has largely departed. Loan deals for Roman Shishkin, Aleksandr Samedov, Jano Ananidze and Vitaliy Denisov have all expired, Sergei Kornilenko has retired, while Ramil Sheydayev, Mohammed Rabiu and Miral Samardzic have left too. Dmitri Kombarov, Dinamo Moscow winger Anton Terekhov and Radu Ginsari have arrived.

CSKA Moscow made Igor Diveev and Nikola Vlasic’s loans permanent, while also bringing in Zvonimir Sarlija on loan. Rodrigo Becao left after his loan ended, while Abel Hernandez and Sergei Tkachyov were released and sold respectively. Diveev, Alan Dzagoev and Georgi Schennikov are all doubtful or injured.

Krylya Sovetov Samara were dreadfully poor in the league after the winter break, losing nine of their last 11 league fixtures (one win, one draw), and many of their most prominent players have departed. They failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five home league games.

CSKA Moscow, who finished fourth last season, have had a settled transfer window by making loans deals for star creator Nikola Vlasic and Igor Diveev permanent while some minor deadwood has been let go. They did only win twice in the last five away league games (one draw, two losses).

CSKA Moscow are still far more settled and potent than their hosts, so expect an away win.

CSKA Moscow scored first in three of their final five away league games last season, and they conceded the fewest away goals in the league with just ten in 15 games. Krylya Sovetov Samara conceded the opener in three of their final five home league games last term. Expect CSKA Moscow to take control by scoring first.

CSKA Moscow have drawn one and won three of the last four league meetings between these two, including a 6-0 thrashing last time out.
