There have been no updates on Kengo Kawamata's foot injury from Jubilo so he should still be considered doubtful. Kentaro Oi will miss 3-4 weeks with a torn hamstring. Jubilo field a reserve team and, as I have said, before the youngsters did the job with a goal from Seiya Nakano and two from Masato Nakayama, to give the team a 3-1 away win over a second string Matsumoto Yamaga in the League Cup.

Douglas was on the bench, and came on after 66 minutes for S-Pulse last weekend and appears to have over come Arrhythmia problems. Yasufumi Nishimura returned to the bench on Wednesday night, without any playing time, as S-Pulse drew at home with Gamba Osaka  - 1-1 – in the League Cup. They had to rely on a Koya Kitamoto PK to get the draw.

Jubilo managed a barely deserved away win at Shonan Bellmare last weekend on an own goal and then a breakaway goal by Rodrigues with the final play of the game as the opposition goalkeeper left his goal open to come up for a corner! 2-0 flattered them and they are surely going to continue to struggle this season. A local derby, especially at home should surely raise the team and excite / incite the crowd but it is also true for the opposition and anything can happen in these games. With five goals scored all season (including the two last weekend) they are not exciting to watch at all, but they have conceded relatively few goals (five) for a team in their position (equal third-best defence in J1) and this may be the one thing that saves them from relegation in the end? We shall see.

After going ahead on a goal from Koya Kitagawa just after half time at FC Tokyo last weekend before going down to an eventual 2-1 loss and sinking to the bottom of J1. They have just two fortunate 1-1 draws to their name this season – games that they could have easily lost of their opposition had made the most of possession and chances. A team in this position will develop a losing habit and the pressure will mount but there is nothing like desperation, combined with being away at your most hated rivals to bring out the fight in a  team. However badly they have played until now, S-Pulse will be going into this match giving everything and fighting for home derby pride and I think this will upturn the form book and give us good news – however temporary – for S-Pulse.

The derby element, the support of away fans in a full away end and the shame of a loss to their rivals combined with desperation to get off the bottom should lift S-Pulse to a narrow and hard-fought away win.

S-Pulse have scored in every game and can get that single goal to win this one. Jubilo's defence has done well but their forward play is uninspired. A 1-0 away win could be enough here.

In J1 matches between these two teams last season, S-Pulse won at home and draw away.
