MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Sirius and AFC Eskilstuna are two teams that were tipped for relegation before the season started. However, both won their opening fixture and will go into this league game full of confidence.

Sirius, who finished only four points above the drop zone last year, impressed with a 2-0 league victory at Kalmar. Goals from Karl Larson and substitute Sam Lundholm meant that manager Henrik Rydstrom got a perfect start against his old club. The home team could still be missing Jesper Arvidsson and Abdul Razak, but Niklas Thor has added grit to the midfield and the team look more solid than last year.

Newcomers AFC Eskilstuna only won four league games in their last top-flight season back in 2017. They operate on a small budget and have concentrated on bringing in free transfers. New striker Denni Avdic scored in their impressive 3-1 league win at home against Goteborg last weekend and the team look more ready to play in the top flight than they did two years ago. Mihail Ivanov is a fine goalkeeper and in Avdic, Anel Raskaj and Felix Michel there is creativity and attacking nous.

Another league win would be a huge boost for both teams in their quest for survival this year. Sirius have a better squad on paper and can play with the home crowd pushing them on. AFC Eskilstuna will probably look to defend and hit Sirius on the counter-attack. However, I believe Sirius are solid enough and should win, although it will be a tight league game.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – LOW

FC Eskilstuna were very poor away from home the last time they were in the top flight in 2017, losing 11 of their 15 away league games and scoring fewer than one goal on average. I can only see a low-scoring league match here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Last time AFC Eskilstuna played in the top flight two years ago, they lost both league encounters against Sirius.
