USA Major League Soccer---Houston Dynamo VS Portland Timbers

Livescore | Match Prediction & Tips| Asian Handicap Odds|Line-ups & H2H Stats

The Houston Dynamo list Eric Bird, Da Marcus Beasley, Marlon Hairston and Ronaldo Pena as injured

The Portland Timbers expect to be without goalkeepers Aljaz Ivacic and Kendall McIntosh due to injuries while Marvin Loria is questionable and Diego Chara is suspended. Midfielder David Guzman was traded to the Columbus Crew last week and the club then signed forward Brian Fernandez from Necaxa in Mexico.

Houston Dynamo

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Eric Bird (ankle); Da Marcus Beasley, Ronaldo Pena (both knee); Marlon Hairston (hip)

Portland Timbers

Doubtful: Marvin Loria (foot)

Injured/unavailable: Aljaz Ivacic (shin), Kendall McIntosh (thigh)

The Houston Dynamo's two-game winning streak in the league came to an end last weekend with a narrow 1-0 defeat in Seattle. The only goal of the league game came in the fifth minute and although the Dynamo created several chances to tie the game they registered just one shot on target. On the bright side, Houston has lost just twice in the league this season to go with six wins and a draw for 19 points and have outscored their opponents 17-10. They return home to host the Portland Timbers and are undefeated on their own turf in the league this year with five wins and a draw and have doubled their visitors in goals 12-6.

The Portland Timbers had their three-game winning streak in the league snapped last weekend with a 1-0 away defeat at the hands of the Vancouver Whitecaps. They conceded the league game's only goal in the ninth minute and then tried to play catch-up the rest of the way but fell short against Vancouver goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau. It was the tenth outing on Portland's season-opening 12 match road trip in the league and they remain at ten points with three wins, a draw and six losses. Their lack of goals isn't helping though as they have been outscored 21-13 in those league games. The loss also allowed Vancouver to leapfrog the Timbers in the Western standings.

With Houston being unbeaten at home and Portland having just three wins in ten league games I like the hosts’ chances of winning.

These teams have met 16 times in the league before and scored an average of 3.1 total goals per league game. They scored eight in two league meetings last year. I like the odds of at least three goals in this contest.

The Houston Dynamo were 4-1 winners at home in the league last season while the Portland Timbers won their home league encounter 2-1.
