Hammarby have let goalkeeper Gianluca Curci leave after his short-term contract expired. Johan Wiland is nearing a comeback but is not yet match fit.

Elfsborg are without winger Jonathan Levi who has a groin injury.

Sixth-placed Hammarby are back on track after a run of bad form before the break. They have won their last two league games and the players are looking in good shape. Against Sundsvall last weekend, Vidar Orn Kjartansson scored in stoppage time to secure a 3-2 league win away from home. The Icelandic striker has since returned to his parent club, Rostov, in Russia. It is not clear if Hammarby will try and loan him again or buy him.

Elfsborg started the season well but they have faded badly recently with no win since mid-May. Last weekend they lost 3-0 to AIK Solna and they now have six league games without a win (three draws, three losses). They have also only scored three goals in those league matches. Their loan striker Pawel Cibicki has returned to English second-tier side Leeds after his loan expired but the club is looking at resigning him or adding someone else to their ranks. However, a deal is not likely to be made before this game. Joanthan Levi is also out and the winger will be missed as his speed and creativity create chances.

Hammarby seem to have hit form and players such as Muamer Tankovic and Alex Kacaniklic are performing well at the moment. A bad result for Elfsborg could spell the end for manager Jimmy Thelin this weekend, who has struggled for almost two years. I can’t see the visitors winning here and predict a victory for the home side.

Hammarby have been winning at half time in five of their last six home league games. I think they will be ahead after 45 minutes once again.

The teams played out a 1-1 draw back in April in the league. Last season Elfsborg won away from home in league action while the league encounter in Elfsborg ended in a draw.
