Hamburg have been doing well since Hannes Wolf's arrival in mid-October, winning seven, drawing one and losing two in the league under his tutelage. However, they have struggled for consistency of late, switching between wins and losses over the last four rounds. After beating Sandhausen 2-1 at home in their first league match in 2019, the league leaders then succumbed to a 2-0 loss away at Bielefeld last time out. However, they are still at the top of the standings with a three-point lead over St. Pauli in second and registered a win in midweek, beating top-flight team Nurnberg 1-0 at home in the third round of the German cup.

Dresden fell to yet another defeat last time out as they lost 1-0 away against Heidenheim, suffering their fourth loss in their last five league matches. Despite that disappointing run, Maik Walpurgis' team remain in tenth place, but they are currently only nine points above the drop zone.

Hamburg have been very solid at home lately, winning three and drawing three of their last six league fixtures at Volkspark Stadium. The leaders should be too strong for struggling Dresden this weekend, so my money is going on the home win.

Hamburg got off the mark in three of their last four home league matches while Dresden have conceded first in two of their last three league games away from home. Take a punt on the hosts to open the scoring here.

There has only been one league meeting between these sides in the last 24 years. Hamburg claimed a 1-0 victory away from home in that one back in September.
