----------------------------------------------

Germany: Title holders (Recent Form: WLLDDD)

Germany are the title holders and while players realize it’s going to be hard to defend the title, they believe they’re capable of doing so. “Of course we have high hopes. Some of us were here last year in Russia and we have a very special feeling. When we won the Confederations Cup we had a very young team and it was a great experience to fight together and win together. We have most of our really big players back for the World Cup but we will show the same fighting spirit we had last summer. It is very hard to win the World Cup twice in a row. But we have a big belief we can do well again,” said Kimmich.

Probable line-up: Neuer; Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Hector; Khedira, Kroos; Muller, Ozil, Draxler; Werner

Mexico: In average shape (Recent Form: LWDLWW)

Mexico had average results in the recent friendlies as they’ve got 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses in last 5 matches. Players are eyeing a positive start against Germany. “Nobody is unbeatable and there are only three players, [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Neymar who can make two or three goals on their own. We've earned respect, but now we have to show it on the pitch. I believe that the team has understood, has worked with the coach on the pitch and I don't see why we can't beat Germany on Sunday,” said defender Salcedo.

Probable line-up: Ochoa; Gallardo, Salcedo, Moreno, Layun; Herrera, dos Santos; Lozano, Guardado, Vela; Chicharito

THE BETTING VERDICT:

All in all, I think that this might be a low-scoring clash. Germany have their problems as there are issues with Gundogan and Ozil. On the other hand, they should be strong defensively with the return of Neuer and perhaps there won’t be many goals in this outing.
