Fluminense have no fresh news ahead of this week’s match.

Santos centre-back Lucas Verissimo received a red card last time out and is suspended for this match. Striker Eduardo Sasha left the pitch with an unspecified injury and is a doubt for manager Jair Ventura.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Felipe, Marquinhos Calazans (both knee); Leo, Marcos Junior (both unspecified)

Suspended: Lucas Verissimo

Doubtful: Eduardo Sasha (undisclosed)

Injured/unavailable: Alison (knee), Arthur Gomes (ankle), Guilherme Nunes (hamstring)

Fluminense lost their third league game in a row last weekend. They visited Atletico Mineiro and managed to open the scoring in the 29th minute, but the hosts, who are now in second place, quickly turned the game around and ended up thrashing Fluminense 5-2. The team are now in 11th place with only 14 points.

Santos have been looking so far. They suffered their fourth loss in their last six games on Sunday and are now only one point above the relegation zone. The team hosted an inconsistent Internacional, losing 2-1. Their only goal came through a contested penalty which was taken by striker Gabriel, and the fact that their main attacker Eduardo Sashais doubtful for this game will worry manager Jair Ventura.

Fluminense do have a good record as hosts despite having lost their last home match, a big derby against leaders Flamengo that ended 2-0 to their disadvantage. Overall, they have won three, drawn one and lost one on their own turf while Santos have lost four and drawn one of their five games as visitors this season. I’m sure Flumimense will have no trouble beating Santos here.

Fluminense were able to open the scoring away against second placed Atletico Mineiro last weekend and they have scored first in three of their last five home games. Expect that trend to continue.

There have been two wins for Fluminense, three for Santos and only one draw in the last six encounters between these two.
