Ferencvaros Budapest: Four winless games in a row ( Recent Form: W D D L D )

Ferencvaros is one of the most successful traditional clubs in Hungary. Every year, the club from Budapest plays for the Hungarian Championship and the National Cup. The results from past games are correspondingly positive. Fenercvaros is undefeated in Hungary's last twelve competitive matches, although only five wins have been lost. The team plays therefore reliably and was able to hold the championship lead after a bumpy start to the season in the middle of the season. At the end of the season, however, the championship and the Champions League participation were lost due to the lack of points and missing decisive victories. Coach Thomas Doll has a big squad of 31 players. Among them is the youth striker from Juventus Turin center forward Davide Lazafame, which, however, just came to the team and therefore will not be integrated yet. On the other hand, the right-winger and with 17 goals from 30 matches will be the top scorer of the team, Roland Varga. Injuries are unknown.

Maccabi Tel Aviv: Three games in preseason ( Recent Form: W W D L W )

Maccabi Tel Aviv reached the group stage of the UEFA Europa League last year, but said goodbye as the last of the admittedly simple Group A. Four out of six games were lost. Despite that, they managed a 0-0 draw against Villareal CF and even a surprise 1-0 away win against fifth-placed Spain in the second leg. In the Israeli Premier League Tel Aviv also played quite reliably and lost away even a single game. Since also against Villareal CF in the foreign a victory in the Europa League succeeded, Maccabi can be considered quite as strong away. Maccabi Tel Aviv have won ten of the last thirteen league games and have conceded only one goal in their last seven games. However, the games are known to be long. The team of coach Jordi Cruiff is thus not only in foreign place play strong, but in general also in the defense. In attack Maccabi can rely on the two center-forward Vidar Örn Kjartanson and Itay Shechter. Kajartanson is the scorer with ten goals from twenty Liagspielen. Also Tel Aviv's squad is fit and injury-free according to the current state.

After all, I rate the Maccabi Tel Aviv squad a bit stronger than Ferencvaros Budapest. Ferencvaros has the home advantage, but Tel Aviv is still a tough opponent with the strong defense. In addition, Tel Aviv has more experience on the European stage and could also keep up with stronger opponents. Both teams are fit and in good shape. In terms of betting and current odds, and taking into account the fact that the teams are unfamiliar, I think the home advantage for Fenencvaros will be stronger and at least offset the better form of Tel Aviv. The number of goals is difficult to predict in advance, even though both are likely to go into the game more defensively and wait-and-see to react flexibly to perceived weaknesses of the opponent during the game.
