TEAM NEWS

Tokyo report no injury problems. Takefusa Kubo came off the bench to score a free kick winner in a 1-0 win over Sagan Tosu in League Cup play on Wednesday night. Tokyo made some changes but were playing a strong team, as were Sagan Tosu.

Antlers added Atsuto Uchida to their growing injury list, but no details have been announced. I have concerns about Ryohei Shirasaki after his signing from Shimizu S-Pulse. No mention of an injury anywhere and no comment to my questions to the club, but he has not played a single minute in J1 yet. Is he available? He would be very useful. Goalkeeper Kwoun Sun Tae is being treated after being carried off against Gyeongnam in Antler's Tuesday night 3-2 win in the Asian Champions League. His ankle/shin area is badly bruised after being stamped upon. Antlers were 2-0 down at 75 minutes but came back to win 3-2, with Serginho scoring the winner in the 93rd minute.

MATCH PREVIEW ?MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Tokyo went down to an early 2nd half goal at home to Nagoya Grampus last weekend before coming back to win 2-1 through goals from Na Sangho and Diego Oliveira. They remain unbeaten for the season with four wins and two draws yet they are not really impressing me. 17-year-old Takefusa Kubo is becoming a real force in midfield and, if it is true that he will return to Barcelona in the summer as soon as he reaches 18-years-old – he will be missed. For now, this team need to give hime the ball as much as possible! Last weekend's game saw a narrow win against the team that sits at the bottom of the table, and goals came from two substitutes after Tokyo went behind. For me, another over-performing team who will soon be overtaken by the better, consistent teams like their visitors today.

Antlers went down to an early 2nd half goal at home to Shimizu S-Pulse last weekend before coming back to win 2-1 through goals from Shoma Doi and a superb individual effort by Leo Silva. Their injury problems are great, yet their squad is deep and full of hard-working players, team players who give 100%. The only problem I see in this game is the fact that they may have their eyes on their Asian Champions league game in midweek, but I feel that, of all J1 teams, Antlers are the team that can juggle commitments and players to keep winning in both competitions. It's incredible how many players can be missing and still Antlers pull it off!

In J1 a win here is like an early six-pointer move Antlers level with Tokyo on points and the fact that Antlers could go top of J1 with a win here will spur them on to victory. Whatever happens in their ACL game, J1 will take over as soon as that midweek match is over and Antlers will be ready to win this one.

SECOND PREDICTION: CORRECT SCORE 1-2

While Antlers have scored in every match, they have, unusually only one clean sheet so far. FC Tokyo have scored in their last five games after an opening day 0-0 draw against champions Kawasaki Frontale. Neither team are high scorers, on the other hand, so logically, a goal for Tokyo but a win for Antlers gives us a 2-1 away win.

HEAD TO HEAD

In J1 matches between these two teams last season Tokyo won both matches.
