MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Sporting Kansas City looked quite impressive last weekend with a 3-0 whitewashing of the Vancouver Whitecaps away from home for their second straight win and clean sheet in league action. They got things rolling with the aid of an own goal in the 24th minute, with Felipe Gutierrez doubling it in the 56th minute and man of the match Gerso tripling the score in second-half injury time. Goalkeeper Tim Melia made six saves to post the clean sheet. It was just the fourth win for Sporting Kansas in the past 16 league encounters with six defeats and six draws. They now have 25 points but remain just below the playoff spots in the West with six wins, seven draws and seven losses.

FC Dallas lost a heartbreaker away from home against Minnesota Utd last weekend as they conceded the winning goal of their 1-0 league defeat during second-half injury time. To make matters worse, Dallas had a chance to tie the league match just before the final whistle when Reto Ziegler lined up to take a penalty kick only to have it saved. They have now failed to score in two of their last three league matches. Dallas has just three wins in their past 13 league matches (four draws, six losses) and their 29 points places them in the middle of the playoff hunt in the West.

Sporting Kansas City has won two league matches in a row and they are at home, so perhaps they will make a late push for the playoffs. I'm going with a home win.

SECOND PREDICTION: ODD/EVEN – ODD

70% of FC Dallas' away league games have ended in odd scores this season and both of last year's league meetings between the teams ended in odd scores, too. That trend should continue with another odd score.

HEAD TO HEAD

Sporting Kansas City won 3-0 away last year in the league with FC Dallas winning 3-2 in Kansas City.
