Swedish Allsvenskan---Elfsborg VS Helsingborg

Elfsborg winger Jonathan Levi has a groin injury and will be back in August at the earliest.

There has been big news for Helsingborgs as they have captain and defender Andreas Granqvist back from his injury.

Elfsborg lost 2-1 away to Falkenbergs in the league last weekend - a result that means they only have one win in their last seven league games (three draws, three losses). Their season, which started brightly, has slowed down considerably lately. The team will be without veteran midfielder Stefan Ishizaki for this league game as well as influential winger Jonathan Levi. The latter has a groin injury and will be out for some time. That is a big loss for the home side as much of their attacking play goes through him.

Helsingborgs started life under new manager Henrik Larsson by beating Orebro 1-0 away from home in the league last time out, with Rasmus Jonsson scoring the only goal. Just days later the news came out that the club has reluctantly sold Jonsson to Buriram United in Thailand. United activated his release clause and he will leave only one year after returning to his boyhood club. That means that Larsson will have some thinking to do on how to replace him. The win against Orebro was the team’s first in the league since mid-April, having drawn four and lost five along the way, but even without Jonsson they should put in a good performance here.

Elfsborg are out of form and have key players injured. Helsingborgs could surprise them with a well organized team. I predict an away win here.

Elfsborg have kept a clean sheet in their last three home league games and there have been under 2.5 total goals scored in Helsingborgs’ last three away league games. I would not be surprised to see a low-scoring encounter here.

The last two league meetings ended in two straight wins for Elfsborg but the teams have not played each other since 2016.
