Derby will once again be without star striker Jack Marriott as Swansea travel to Pride Park. Duane Holmes is still battling a hamstring problem while Scott Carson is out with a groin injury. George Thorne and Andre Wisdom are the other absentees. Krystian Bielik will make his debut for the hosts.

Swansea boss Steve Cooper will likely name an unchanged starting XI for the trip to Pride Park after winning his first game in charge. The Swans are expected to be without winger Wayne Routledge who picked up a knock during pre-season.

Derby opened their season with an impressive 2-1 away win over a strong Huddersfield Town side thanks to a combination of Town’s defensive errors and some individual brilliance from Tom Lawrence. Phillip Cocu will be pleased with the start his side made but after losing the possession battle, recording less shots (14-11) and failing to win a single corner throughout the 90 minutes, there’s clearly room for improvement.

Swansea are unbeaten in their last six league games carrying over from last season and after continuing their impressive record with a 2-1 win over Hull City on the opening day, Steve Cooper will be confident travelling to Pride Park. Little was expected from the former England youth manager heading into the new season after losing star men Daniel James and Oliver McBurnie but after managing 19 shots and 63.1% possession, eyes will be on the Swans here.

The Swans drew 22% of their away league matches last season while 30% of Derby’s home league matches ended in a stalemate and with Derby unbeaten in seven league matches and Swansea unbeaten in six, it’s unlikely that either side’s impressive form will give here.

Derby scored first in 12 of their 23 home league games last season while Swansea opened the scoring just eight times on the road. The Rams started brightly against Huddersfield notching twice in the opening 25 minutes whereas Swansea went in at the break 1-0 down at home to a weaker Hull City side.

Last year’s meetings between Derby and Swansea were their first since 2011 and it was Derby who enjoyed the majority of the spoils, winning 2-1 at Pride Park before snatching a point at the Liberty Stadium.
