MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

DC United finally lost their first league game of the season rather convincingly as Los Angeles FC trounced them 4-0 on their own ground at the weekend. DC United entered the match in first place in the East, but their opponents had a 3-0 lead by half time and added a fourth goal in the 76th minute. The loss was the first for DC United in 15 regular league games dating back to last season (ten wins, four draws) and things went from bad to worse in the 52nd minute when Wayne Rooney was sent off with a straight red card. DC United now has three wins, a draw and a loss on the season and they have two victories and a defeat in the league at home while outscoring their visitors 7-4.

The Montreal Impact bounced back from their 7-1 away league loss to Sporting Kansas City last week with a 0-0 draw at Yankee Stadium against New York City at the weekend. The result was even more impressive considering Maximiliano Urruti of the Montreal Impact was sent off with a red card in the 70th minute. Goalkeeper Evan Bush posted the clean sheet for the Impact and the team now has two wins, a draw and two defeats on the season with all five league contests being away from home.

DC United really got drilled at home last time out and there is no way they are going to lose two straight home league matches against a mediocre Montreal Impact side. They will be angry and motivated to take all three points.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – DC UNITED

DC United has scored first in 22 of their last 39 regular season league games, going back to last season, and I expect them to strike first again this week.

HEAD TO HEAD

DC United hammered the Montreal Impact 5-0 at home in league action last season and drew 1-1 away.
