With only two players still injured, Cruzeiro come to this match with the same names they had available last weekend.

The same can’t be said about Vasco da Gama, who have two suspended players – center back Leandro Castan and left back Henrique.

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Edilson (calf), Rodriguinho (back)

Vasco da Gama

Suspended: Castan, Henrique

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Rossi (appendicitis)

After firing their former coach, things started improving for Cruzeiro and even though they drew 1-1 away against CS Alagoano last weekend – one of their rivals in the fight against relegation – they are now unbeaten for the last last three rounds and striker Fred started working again, having scored in the two most recent games.

It’s clear that coach Rogerio Ceni is making a difference especially in the attack, the same way it’s clear that Vasco da Gama’s coach Luxemburgo is making a difference in their defense, protecting their goal tight with quick transitions to the attack that helped them control the match and beat Sao Paulo 2-0 at home last round.

Although Vasco da Gama won their last away match, that was their first win as visitors in the league this year after two draws and four losses(one of the matches took place on neutral ground) , and even though Cruzeiro won only one of their last four home matches in the Brasileiro, they conceded in only one of those games, and with such a good defense in front of their fans, they will hold Vasco da Gama and win the match.

That same good defensive record at home will help Cruzeiro keep Vasco da Gama goalless even though they scored in their last three matches as visitors, and with that we will see this match end with a low score.

Out of the 37 times these two clashed in the past, Vasco da Gama beat Cruzeiro only twice when playing as visitors, and the most recent of those wins wasn’t that long ago – it happened only a couple of years ago.
