Going through a series of unbeaten matches that reached eight rounds after last weekend’s 4-1 loss away against Flamengo and that has even been affecting them when they play at home – they failed to win their last three home matches – Corinthians arrive to this game under a lot of pressure for their fans and directors.

Even their president called a press conference to make it clear that he expects more, especially from his players, who, according to him, have been acting as if they were on vacation, and indeed they are, as they’ve left the Top-6 and are under the serious threat of not qualifying to next year’s Copa Libertadores.

They are in a much more comfortable position than Fortaleza, though, who come to this match only five points above the relegation zone, which is disappointing because they had a good chance of winning their game last round, but let Atletico Mineiro equalise in the 2-2 at home. With that result, they come to this match from four unbeaten games in a row, but to be honest three of them were against teams fighting at the bottom of the table, and now that they will play against a side much near the top, they will have problems and see Corinthians win the match.

Even though they haven’t been as good as they usually are during this season, Corinthians still have a good defensive system which is made clear by the low number of goals they’ve allowed in the league this year, as well as by the fact that only four of their 15 home matches had three or more goals, and with a defensive formation doing that well, we should expect them to end another one of their games with two or less goals, meaning a low score.

Corinthians won their last six matches against Fortaleza – four of them when playing as visitors.
