MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

The Columbus Crew have lost just one of five league games this season (three wins, one draw) after their 2-0 home victory over reigning MLS Cup Champions Atlanta Utd last weekend. Pedro Santos gave the Crew an early lead after two minutes. The league game was then held up for an hour at the 31 minute mark due to heavy rain. When it resumed, Gyasi Zardes scored in the 39th minute to clinch the win with his third league goal of the campaign. The Crew has ten points from three wins, a draw and a defeat, with six goals scored and four allowed. They have two wins and a draw in their three home league games this season.

The New England Revolution snapped their three-match losing streak with a narrow 2-1 home win over Minnesota Utd in the league last weekend. Manager Brad Friedel made six lineup changes after last week's 2-0 home loss to FC Cincinnati and it worked as Jalil Anibaba scored in the tenth minute and Brandon Bye notched the winner in the 62nd minute. Minnesota had levelled the league match after 26 minutes via a penalty kick. New England has a win, a draw and three losses in the league in 2019 and now head back on the road for a tilt in Columbus. The Revolution have a draw and a loss on the road this year while being outscored 4-3.

The Columbus Crew is on a roll and has already beaten New England 2-0 away in league action this season. I'm expecting them to record their second straight win of the year over the Revolution since they are on home soil.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – COLUMBUS CREW

The Columbus Crew has scored first in three of five league games this year and first in 12 of 17 league matches at home last season. I'm expecting them to strike first.

HEAD TO HEAD

These sides met last month in league action, with the Columbus Crew winning 2-0 in New England. They were 1-0 away winners last year and also drew 2-2 at home in the league.
